The Kroc Center - Salem, OR

I brought my family for the first time to swim and a guest from Europe because I thought this place is very welcoming but it was a big mistake. We brought our little snacks for lunch and we eat were the rock climbing located. The kids are hungry and this lady came up and told us, we are not allowed to eat our own food and we have to eat outside, the temperature was cold outside. There are no sign whatsover to warned us about eating foods. This place is not kind,not welcoming ,not a friendly place at all. This is just to remind the people that if you want to go this place,do not bring your own food or you will get busted if you are. We are not coming back this place again.

I used to love taking my daughter here. However, I prefer swimming in rivers and lakes and when I have to swim indoors I started preferring the Dallas Aquatic Center. Today I took my daughter, one of her friends, and my one year old son in to swim. First, they said they were at capacity and we would have to wait but we could only do so if we bought passes and they were non-refundable. We decided to go for it because we were told it would only be a 15-30 minute wait. Then they charged me the same amount for my one year old that they did for my 14 year old and we had to wait an hour and a half to get into the pool. The slide was closed, the water was cold, and the room was cold. My little boy was freezing so we left and I was going to take a hot shower with him to warm him up but the water in the shower room wouldn't budge above freezing cold. I asked two employees and they told me they were having issues with the some of the showers. I said my son was freezing (he was visibly shaking and his lips turning blue) and asked which showers were working and they said they didn't know in a way that made it clear they could not have cared less. I ended up just having to dry and bundle him up as quickly as I could. I was mulling over getting a family membership but, after today, I won't be back.

I really love the workout classes, the membership is great. I just really wish the membership included daycare. The membership is already really expensive of $62 a month. Then to add one child it jumps to $100 just so I could use the day care. I have an 6 mo old and I don’t bring him every time, Just when I don’t have someone to watch him at home. So I can’t justify the $100 a mo so it’s already a hassle to bring him then shuffle for my wallet to pay for a day pass of $10 just for two hours (day care limit). I am debating on switching gyms just for this problem, I can pay the same $62 a month at another gym that will be willing to watch my baby as I workout without me stressing about paying more.

I am very disappointed that the Kroc center charges $44/mth for children 4mths - 17yrs old. What in the world can a 4mth old do that would warrant $44/mth! This is completely bffling and ridiculous. I could see a 2yr old or older but a 4mth old can't take advantage of all of the perks of a membership. They can't use weights, take extra classes, use the gym, etc. The most they'd do is be held in the pool. I do have to say that their adult and family rates are okay if you get a deal or are eligible for a scholarship (if/when available). Otherwise, rates are a bit steep comparison to other gyms.
